Account & Sign In

  • Use the same sign-in method you used when you created your account (email/password or Apple Sign In on iOS).
  • If you forgot your password, use the reset option on the sign-in screen. Check spam folders for the reset email.
  • If sign-in fails after an app update, sign out fully, restart the app, and try again.
  • For persistent account access issues, email support@alwaysnearapp.com from the address on your account and describe what you see.

Contacts & Groups

  • Add contacts from the Contacts area in the app. Each contact needs a name and at least one phone number or email address.
  • Create contact groups to organize who receives an update. Your plan sets how many groups and contacts you can have in total across the account.
  • To remove a contact, open their details and delete them. Removing a contact does not automatically revoke SMS consent at the phone level; recipients can reply STOP at any time.
  • If a contact is not receiving messages, confirm they are in the group you selected when sending, and that their phone or email is correct.

Delegates

  • Delegates are trusted people you approve to send status updates on your behalf. Invite them from the Delegates area in the app.
  • An invite must be accepted before a delegate can send. Pending invites count toward your delegate limit.
  • To remove a delegate, revoke their access in the app. They will no longer be able to send updates for your account.
  • Delegates can only act for owners who invited and approved them.

Status Updates & Notifications

  • Updates are sent only when you or an approved delegate explicitly sends one. AlwaysNear does not send messages on a schedule.
  • SMS requires recipient consent. New contacts receive a one-time invitation and must reply YES before status texts are delivered. See our SMS Consent page for details.
  • If SMS does not arrive, check that the contact opted in, that their number is valid, and that you have SMS credits remaining on your plan. Email may still deliver when SMS credits are exhausted.
  • Recipients can reply STOP to opt out of SMS at any time, or HELP for assistance.
  • If notifications failed but your update was saved, try sending again from the app when offered. The server will refuse a duplicate send if delivery may already have started.

Subscriptions & Billing

AlwaysNear offers Free, Plus, and Family plans. Paid features on iOS are purchased as in-app subscriptions through Apple.

  • Billing: iOS subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple, not directly by AlwaysNear. Your Apple ID is charged according to the plan you choose in the App Store.
  • Manage or cancel: Open Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone, select AlwaysNear, and change or cancel your plan there. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then.
  • Restore purchases: If you reinstall the app or use a new device, open AlwaysNear, go to Plans in the menu, and tap Restore Purchases. Sign in with the same AlwaysNear account you used when subscribing.
  • Refunds: Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support.
  • For subscription status questions we cannot resolve in the app, email support@alwaysnearapp.com with the email address on your AlwaysNear account.
